India makes homosexuality legal after 150 years

India, world's biggest democracy, where Land Rovers and cows jostle for space in business districts has accomodated another curious section of people, homosexuals. A Delhi court on Thursday overturned a 150-year-old law which criminalised sex between people of the same sex. The Delhi High court declared the laws a violation of "fundamental rights" and unconstitutional. The decision thus permits consensual sex between homosexuals over 18 years of age, but ruling section 377 should still apply to cases of non-consensual sex.
